Pocket Storms

It is an exploration of life forms and their component parts that informs the structure of these paintings. Indexical marks left by bursts of energy are the starting point. They are then built up with each layer being a response to the one below; all layers being translucent and therefore visible at the same time. It represents the way we see today, we are almost always looking through a veil, a screen, window or lens.
I think of the Pocket Storm as being both destructive and productive; it causes chaos and destruction and yet it sprouts a new order it allows new and different possibilities to flourish in its wake. I am investigating the concept of the storm and its ramifications on literal, metaphysical and emotional levels.
